Istanbul and Larnaca are destinations of both year-long and seasonal popularity to our passengers and we have consistently seen strong two-way traffic between these historic cities and Bahrain and the greater region. Hawaiian's Dunkerley says airline committed to Airbus A350-800 acquisitions

Hawaiian Airlines President CEO Mark Dunkerley said the airline is committed to acquiring six Airbus A350-800s, saying the long-range aircraft are ideal for flights between Honolulu and Asian cities such as Bangkok, Thailand, and Singapore.
Bloomberg reports Dunkerley, in an interview watt the annual general meeting of the International Air Travel Association in Doha, Qatar, said the A350, which has fallen out of favor in recent years with other airlines that prefer larger models, said the A350 serves Hawaiian well because it is long trance, it is larger than the airline's A330-200 aircraft and it is fuel efficient.
Bloomberg reports Dunkerley said he still expects to start taking deliver of the A350 aircraft, which seat 276 passengers in two classes and have a range of 8,250 nautical miles, in 2017.
Bloomberg reports Airbus has only 34 contracts left for the A350-800, compared to 600 for the larger A350-900, with Hawaiian and three other customers, Russian airline Aeroflot, Awas Aviation Capital Ltd. and Asiana Airlines, based in South Korea.
Hawaiian, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: HA), also plans to acquire 16 new Airbus A321neo long-range aircraft between 2017 and 2020 and has rights to purchase an additional nine aircraft.

EK 500 and EK 501 between Dubai and Mumbai will be up-scaled to a three-class A380 aircraft, representing with a capacity increase of 2,127 seats per week in each direction. This offers passengers flying to India from key destinations in North America and Europe the chance to experience Emirates’ hugely popular flagship aircraft on this route.
In addition, Emirates will deploy larger Boeing 777 aircraft to Delhi and Hyderabad to serve growing demand. Delhi will have 980 additional one-way weekly seats while Hyderabad will increase its capacity to add 672 one-way weekly seats.
A combined total of 3,779 one-way weekly seats will be deployed on Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad through these aircraft upgrades. This follows the recent bilateral discussions between the governments of Dubai and India, which provided a phased increase of 11,000 seats for Dubai carriers.
“Air transport is an important economic driver. It facilitates trade and tourism, and has a multiplier effect through direct and indirect job creation. Emirates has been serving India since our founding year in 1985, and it is our largest market today which we serve with 185 flights each week. We look forward to working with the new Government in India to grow India’s economy through enhanced aviation connectivity and to realize India’s ambition to grow its international aviation market to 85 million passengers by 2020,” said Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations- West Asia & Indian Ocean.
India's National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) recently modelled the impact of Emirates up-gauging daily services to Mumbai from Boeing 777s to an Airbus A380. The annual incremental economic benefit from up-gauging one service is $8.3 million in additional GDP per return flight and the creation and support of over 1,000 jobs.
The Emirates A380 operating on the Mumbai route will feature 14 private First Class suites, 76 Business Class lie-flat seats and a spacious cabin for 399 Economy Class passengers.
On board, passengers can experience a range of unique facilities in all cabins - from the Shower Spas in First Class, to the A380 Onboard Lounge where passengers in the premium cabins can relax in a social environment during the flight; as well as 11.4” touch screen LED personal TVs.

The latest technology allows passengers to stay connected throughout the flight with high-speed Wi-Fi access and mobile phone and data services.
“Many customers specifically book their flights to our destinations knowing that they will have the chance to fly on the A380. Now that Mumbai is being added to our global network of A380 destinations, I’m sure this will come as welcome news to many of our passengers across Europe and North America who can now fly all the way from their origin point of departure to Mumbai exclusively on the A380,” said Ahmed Khoory.
Emirates currently has 48 A380s in service, more than any other airline globally. Emirates received 12 of the giant double decker aircraft over the last year. More than 25 million passengers have travelled on the Emirates A380 since it was first launched in 2008.
Emirates operates 185 flights per week to 10 gateways in India. This offers travelers on Emirates global network, which includes 85 cities in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Middle East, a range of convenient flight options to one of Asia’s most exciting leisure and business destinations.

Wizz Air maintains strong EX-YU presence

Wizz Air will maintain a strong presence throughout the former Yugoslavia during the 2014/15 winter season, which begins on October 26. The low cost airline recently revealed its schedule and put tickets on sale until late March 2015. From Skopje, its busiest base in the former Yugoslavia, Wizz Air will maintain a similar schedule to that of this summer. During the New Year and Christmas holidays, Wizz Air will run additional services to select cities. Furthermore, Wizz Air will continue operating flights to Larnaca in Cyprus, which were launched at the start of the summer season and were originally planned as a seasonal service. Flights to London Luton, Dortmund, Basel, Memmingen, Stockholm and Eindhoven will run twice per week, while services to Beauvais, Malmo and Gothenburg will be maintained with three weekly flights.

This summer will also see the launch of new flights from Dortmund and Eindhoven to Tuzla, both of which will be maintained during the winter. The airline will operate two weekly flights from Basel and Eindhoven, same as this summer, while services from Dortmund and Gothenburg will be reduced from three to two flights per week. Malmo will continue to run with three weekly flights. Finally, the no frills airline will maintain its services from Charleroi and London Luton to Ljubljana, which will operate two and three times per week respectively. Wizz Air is in talks with Ljubljana Airport to launch new routes to the Slovenian capital at the end of the year, primarily from Scandinavia.

Ryanair planning to offer United States flights by 2019

Ryanair plans to offer US flights by 2019 and will lure passengers with very cheap prices, says chief executive Michael O'Leary.

However, new aircraft are currently too expensive and out of stock due to heavy orders by Gulf airlines such as Emirates.
Tickets could be sold for €10, excluding extra costs for luggage, food and entertainment, said Mr O'Leary, who insisted that the offer was not a marketing stunt to grab public attention.
Meanwhile, Mr O'Leary, in an interview with the ‘Mail on Sunday’, said that parts of Ryanair's service need to be addressed after 20 years of very fast growth.

The new route to Milan and Rome is likely to be operated in June-July period. The airline also plans to re-open its Nairobi route.

Airline to link Zagreb with Belgrade and China

Chinese Southeast Europe Business Association (CSEBA) and its partners have announced plans to create a new airline which will launch direct flights between Zagreb and Belgrade, connecting the two cities for the first time in 23 years. In addition, the airline plans to provide charters between Croatia and China, as well as Central Asia. According to the Chinese Southeast Europe Business Association, “ticket prices are expected to be in the range of low cost airlines”. CSEBA President, Mario Rendulić, said in a statement, “There will be tourist air charters between Croatia and China. Chinese tourists are seeking new destinations, and due to recent initiatives by the Croatian Tourism Ministry, the Chinese are very interested in Croatia”.

Croatia has never had direct air links to China. Far off markets like China hold huge potential for Croatia's tourism industry. The number of Chinese tourists visiting Croatia has seen double digit growth for the past few years. In 2013, 43.000 Chinese tourists visited Croatia and spent 65.000 nights in the country, with numbers expected to rise even further this year. CSEBA is looking to tap into this mostly underserved market. On the other hand, flights between Zagreb and Belgrade would be warmly welcomed by the public. However, both Croatia Airlines and the former Jat Airways maintained that the service would be commercially unviable due to good road connections between the two capitals.

Recently, the Croatian Ministry for Sea, Transport and Infrastructure has been pitching Croatia Airlines to Chinese investors. The ministry held talks with Hainan Airlines and China Southern Airlines several months ago in an attempt to interest the carriers in a 49% stake in its national carrier. Furthermore, there have been efforts to lure Chinese airlines to Croatia. Last year, Dubrovnik Airport’s management announced they were in talks with Hainan Airlines in order for it to launch a seasonal service from the resort city of Sanya on Hainan Island in Southern China during the summer. However, the proposed service did not materialise.

JetBlue launches three new routes from Boston to Latin America and the Caribbean

We’ve finally emerged from a seemingly interminable winter, and JetBlue Airways executives are already thinking about the next one.
JetBlue is unveiling today new seasonal flights out of Logan Airport to three tropical destinations: the island of St. Lucia, Liberia in Costa Rica, and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. The once-weekly flights will begin on Nov. 1, and JetBlue is offering introductory sale prices of as low as $199 tickets, including all taxes and fees, through May 14 to promote the flights.
The announcement comes on the heels of JetBlue’s launch of direct flights to Detroit from Boston two months ago. The company, the largest carrier out of Logan based on market share, remains on track to have 150 flights a day out of the airport by the end of 2015. A spokeswoman says the New York-based airline reached a new peak on April 18, with 128 flights in one day out of Boston. (The airline currently averages around 120.) All three flights will be operated with a 150-seat Airbus 320 jet.
“Boston has more of a business focus for us,” says Ronda McLeod, JetBlue’s manager of regional marketing for this market. “But obviously, Bostonians deserve fantastic vacation getaways as well.”
The announcement coincides with JetBlue’s takeover of Terminal C at Logan. After relocating to a renovated section of Terminal B, United Airlines turned over all seven of its gates in Terminal C to JetBlue on May 1, bringing JetBlue’s total number of gates to 24 and giving it complete control of the terminal. (It still leases one gate there to Cape Air.) Even though JetBlue is the market leader at Logan, the airline is still trying to add more nonstop flights. The Detroit service was the airline’s 51 st direct flight out of Boston, and these three flights would bring that number to at least 54 during the winter tourism season.

Ryanair joins low-cost rivals with expansion in Germany

Low cost carrier Ryanair plans to expand at Cologne airport in Germany, joining rivals in boosting services in Europe's largest economy and providing more competition for Lufthansa on its home territory. Ryanair will base one aircraft and open up five new routes from Cologne, in Germany's most populated federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in October, the budget carrier said on Thursday.
The airline therefore joins rivals such as Easyjet and Spain's Vueling, all of which are hoping to take advantage of Germany's strong economy and its citizens' love of foreign holidays. Low cost carriers have been slow to break into Germany, in the same way as they have taken over in other markets like Britain, France and Spain. But analysts say low-cost carriers have spotted an opening, especially as Air Berlin, Germany's second largest airline, struggles with its finances.
"Germany is the growth engine of Europe. As an European airline, it would be wrong to leave out Germany," Vueling German manager Ulla Siebken told journalists in Frankfurt last month.
Except for routes that feed into its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, full-service carrier Lufthansa has now handed over its European short-haul operations to Germanwings, its low-cost unit. Ryanair said it is investing over $90 million (53.7 million pounds) in Cologne. The new routes are to Dublin, London Stansted, Madrid, Riga & Rome Ciampino, reflecting Ryanair's move into larger airports, rather than smaller regional airports.
Vueling plans to increase revenue by 25 percent in Germany this year as it offers 33 percent more capacity, in terms of the seat kilometres it offers. Easyjet is also expanding, putting in extra planes to Berlin and launching routes to Hamburg.

"Germany for us is good," Easyjet CEO Carolyn McCall told Reuters last month. "We're doing well in Berlin... and we just launched in Hamburg. That will be good for us. All the signals are very good."

These Taipei and Tokyo additions come as United plans to introduce three-times-weekly Boeing 787 service June 9 betweenSan Francisco and Chengdu, China, pending government approval. This nonstop service would be the first by a U.S. airline from the United States to mainland China, beyond Beijing and Shanghai.
