United launches nonstop summer Washington Dulles-Madrid flights

United Airlines (Chicago) last night (June 5) launched the Washington area’s only nonstop flights between the airline’s hub at Dulles International Airport and Madrid, with daily summer-season service through September 4, 2014.
Flight UA 163 departs Washington Dulles International Airport at 5:45 p.m. (1745), arriving at Madrid–Barajas Airport at 7:40 a.m. (0740) the following day (all times local). On the return, Flight UA 164 departs Madrid at 11:35 a.m. (1135), arriving in Washington at 2:30 p.m. (1430) the same day. Flight times are seven hours, 55 minutes eastbound and eight hours, 55 minutes westbound.
United will operate the service with Boeing 757-200 aircraft with a total of 169 seats – 16 flat-bed seats in United BusinessFirst and 153 seats in United Economy, including 45 Economy Plus extra-legroom seats.
United Airlines has been serving Spain for more than 20 years. In addition to the Washington–Madrid service, the airline operates Newark-Madrid and Newark-Barcelona service.

Ryanair opens two Polish bases

Ryanair is opening two Polish bases later this year, at Warsaw Modlin and Gdansk, the airline has confirmed. The no-frills carrier will also open four new routes this winter from Warsaw to Gdansk, Madrid, Shannon and Wroclaw. Ryanair said with an investment of $90 million at Warsaw Modlin airport it aims to deliver 1.9 million passengers a year and sustain 1,900 "on-site" jobs. Ryanair's chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said the investment in key business routes and new products proves the airline "delivers more than just low fares".
"Customers can now book their flights on our much improved website and enjoy a free small second carry-on bag, quiet flights, allocated seats and use their personal electronic devices at all stages of their flight, with family and business products coming soon," said Jacobs.

Iberia will offer daily flights between Madrid and Panama City starting in July

Iberia is increasing its flight frequency between Madrid and Panama to offer a daily flight. From June onwards, it will add a weekly flight to the five it operates at present, and by July it will offer daily flights.
