Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) will wet-lease aircraft from Privilege Style (P6, Palma de Mallorca Son Sant Joan) and LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) for use on its Helsinki Vantaa to New York JFK flights effective June 20. Danish aviation portal, CHECK-IN.dk, says the Finnish carrier has been left with an operational shortfall after one of its eight A330-300s, OH-LTS (cn 1078), was withdrawn from service in late May. On touchdown in New York, the aircraft suffered a heavy landing requiring the complete replacement of its landing gear assembly.
As a result, in anticipation of a busy Summer season, a Privilege Style B767-300(ER), EC-LZO (msn 27902), will operate Finnair's New York flights from June 20 until month-end following which LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) operate the route with a B787-8 until July 16.
