Southwest Airlines is now accepting mobile boarding passes at Southwest Florida International Airport.
An airline press release notes:
Customers can show the electronic boarding passes on their Web-enabled devices at security checkpoints and also at the gate when they board.
Fliers can obtain mobile passes at check-in by: immediately viewing and saving the passes in a new browser window after checking in via Southwest's mobile site or app; choosing to have a mobile-optimized email containing a boarding pass sent to you; or after checking in, choose to receive a text with a link to the mobile boarding pass.
Southwest is phasing-in the mobile boarding pass; it's not for all destinations as yet.
The airline joins an unknown number of other carriers that have added such passes, including Delta and United.
Before checking in, fliers should consult their airline's website to learn whether the mobile boarding pass option is available at the origination and destination airports they'll use.
