Boeing Co. has agreed to buy ETS Aviation, a British company that provides fuel-efficiency management and analytics software, for an undisclosed amount.
ETS provides more than 120 airlines and corporate flight groups with the tools to monitor fuel consumption and track and report carbon emissions, Boeing officials said..
"With fuel costs accounting for as much as 40 percent of airline operating costs, reducing fuel consumption enables airlines to be more successful while reducing emissions," Stan Deal, senior vice president of commercial aviation services for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said in a statement Friday. Adding ETS' products "enhances the edge we provide customers," he said.
ETS Aviation's software will become part of the aviation services marketed as Boeing Edge. ETS employees, based in Bristol, United Kingdom, will join Boeing's Jeppesen UK subsidiary when the deal closes, which is expected in the second quarter, officials said.
