Messing with companies on Twitter is fun, unless it involves sending an airline an ominous tweet that implies a future hijacking. That route of trolling is really, really dumb.
This morning, a girl named Sarah pretended she was going to do something to a plane and tweeted some magnificently stupid shit at American Airlines.
@AmericanAir hello my name's Ibrahim and I'm from Afghanistan. I'm part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I'm gonna do something really big bye
— Sarah (@QueenDemetriax_) April 13, 2014
American Airlines replied, saying they took the tweet seriously, because of course they would. They can't ignore a threat just because it's coming from a big Demi Lovato fan. (Update:They've deleted the tweet, for some reason, but it's above.)
@queendemetriax_ Sarah, we take these threats very seriously. Your IP address and details will be forwarded to security and the FBI.

"I blocked the FBI just in case," she wrote later, an action that seems unlikely to help if she's faced with an off-line response.
A representative from American Airlines' media department declined to comment on the company's response to the incident, stating only that safety of its passengers and crews was its priority.
