Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR) has announced an agreement to install automated passport control (APC) BorderXpress kiosks at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in order to speed-up the customs entry process for passengers at the airport.
YVR has sold 74 APC BorderXpress kiosks to the airport, which will enable travellers to move quickly through the US border
clearance process by entering information at a touch screen self-service kiosk.
YVR president and CEO Craig Richmond said: "We're proud to partner with the world's busiest airport to improve the passenger experience, on a grand scale.
"With international travel on the rise, ATL will use BorderXpress kiosks to move passengers more quickly to meet their increasing demands."
BorderXpress APC kiosks shorten the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection process by about 89%, while cutting passenger wait times by 50% and lowering airport operating costs.
The new service is being offered without pre-registration or any fees to the passenger.
BorderXpress kiosks are currently in use at international airports in Vancouver (YVR), Montreal (YUL), Chicago (ORD), Chicago (MDW), Seattle-Tacoma(SEA), and New York's JFK - Terminals 1 and 4.
BorderXpress kiosk technology is a product of Vancouver Airport Authority, a community-based, not-for-profit organization that manages Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
